Well I got ambitious this weekend. I got my train runnign for the first time in like 6 months. Now it is time to start working on it again so I can post some progress photos on the site. I also reorganized that end of the basement to try ansd allow more room for Katya to play down there and to make it into more odf a rec room. Looks like I may be moving the computers downstairs as well. This way we can turn the computer room into a guest bedroom.

Katya has discovered blankets. Tonight we put one in her crib and she covered up before going to sleep. It is amazing to see how fast she is adapting to life here. Every day she is picking up something new.

2 Planes Fall From the Sky, All 89 Dead

Well, Rain took Katya to visit Karen for a few days so I have the house to myself. It feels strange to get up and not have the baby there. I actually miss that, even her tantrums... I mists having her meet me at the door when I get home and eating breakfast with me in the morning. It's only one more day so it shouldn't be too bad. I might even get to watch a few movies tonight.... Normally I wait till  Katya is in bed first to do that because I want to spend as much time with her as I can.

I decided to move the CB in the jeep to the overhead console. Now it is easier to get to and I prefer it there anyway. I'm having trouble getting the antenna tuned properly but I will give it another shot some other day.

Yesterday went well at the aquarium. Katya loved seeing all the fishies... We had a good day and alot of fun. Katya was pooped by the time we were done. She slept the whole ride home. THe dolphin show was too much for her, she doesn't have a long enough attention span to appreciate it. Maybe next time...

We're off to the Baltimore Aquarium today with Fred & his family. Its his birthday so he wanted to go and do something - actually he wanted to tour the Mint in DC but its closed to tours now, so the aquarium it is.

Looks like another fun day at Work. Drive failure... Oh joy.....

 

On the plus side, Katya is at her first day of day care while Rain is at a funeral. From what I understand, she is doing well with it so far.

The hurricane blew through with just a little rain, nothing else. We could have stayed at camp, oh well. It's been  a bit nuts at work this week, I blew up the voicemail server yesterday, today we lost a drive in a server. All is better now. I'm playing with an exchange server at the house and having it retrieve mail from the web for my domain. We'll see how well it works.

We went camping last night. Katya handled it really well. We had good weather once the rain blew through - we even saw stars.... Today we took Katya 4 wheeling - she had fun, pictures from the trip are on the site. It's raining - the remnants of hurricane Charlie is just starting to really hit us.. mostly rain right now, doesn't look like it will be too bad.

 

It was kinda funny this morning - I told Katya that I was going to work - she wanted me to pick her up. Then she gave me a kiss and wanted Rain to kiss me bye... Then she wanted down and said "Bye-Bye" and climbed on the couch to wave to me as I walked to the car...

I'm having fun with the DVD burner at work. I can now backup my DVDs... :)

 

Katya loves the tub now, last night she wanted to take a bath without us saying anything. I'm glad she likes it now.

What a weekend

We went to West Virginia to visit the in-laws this weekend. Katya handled the car ride pretty well, she started getting restless after about 3 hours. Since she is potty training we stopped every time she said that she needed to pee because we don't want to discourage her. After about the 4th time we realized what she was doing. She would say she had to pee so she could get out of the car seat. Needless to say that stopped real quick. She ha a minor accident at Dave's house.. she decided to climb the stairs after us and promptly fell back down them. Luckily she was not seriously hurt. I figured it was only a matter of time till she did it the first time.

 

We're going to take her camping this weekend to see how she handles it and maybe do some 4 wheeling while we are there.

 

 

Last night I gave Katya a bath. She decided to wash herself. She took the washcloth (on her own) and washer herself, including her hair. This is the kid, who last time we gave her a bath, screamed like we were killing her when we washed her in the bath....

Katya is still learning more new words... Recent ones include Milk, Froggie, Please, Done. Rain picked up some freebies for Katya yesterday - a chalkboard, ride on car, dump truck. Free is always a good thing. We had leftover lasagna last night and of course Katya loved it - she likes salad too, but not salad dressing, which is OK. She likes raw or cooked carrots too. I'm loving having a daughter, even when she spends an hour screaming because she did not get her way. We're trying to get her used to being in her room by herself, we put the baby gate up and she stands at the gate stomping her feet and screaming until she gets herself real upset. I can't think of anything else to do to make her get used to the idea. We always pick her up & hug her once we let her out so she knows that we still love her.

THe barbecue/birthday parth went well yesterday. Katya got lots of cool presents and had fun playing in the backyard all day. After she went to bed we sat outside under the fly  and talked for a while. We took her to the neighbors house to see the pool and she actually let us take her in the pool so long as she was sitting on a floating raft. She actually didn't mind it all that much. Maybe in a few days we will bring her over again and see how she likes it.
