New Menus Added!!!

I just re-did the menus on the site. Please let me know if there are any broken links....

Tooo funny! I just had to post this...

Below is an actual letter sent to a bank. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the New York Times.

Dear Sir:

I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honour it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire salary, an arrangement which, I admit, has only been in place for eight years.

You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $50 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways.

I noticed that whereas I personally attend to your telephone calls and letters, however, when I try to contact you I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded faceless entity that your bank has become.

From now on I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will, therefore and hereafter, no longer be automatic but will arrive at your bank by check addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate. Be aware that it is an offence under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact Status which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me there is no alternative.

Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.

In due course, I will issue your employee with a PIN number, which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses required to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Let me level the playing field even further. Press buttons as follows:

1.- To make an appointment to see me.
2.- To query a missing payment.
3.- To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
4.- To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
5. -To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.
6.- To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
7.- To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required. Password will be communicated at a later date to the Authorized Contact.
8.- To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7.
9.- To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call.

Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.

May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year?

Your Humble Client

Working on a friday

blah... its friday and I'm in the office.. this sucks.. i'm tired and just want to take a nap!

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

Life is going a little smoother now.. we got most of the clothes put away from the trip... Still have to unload the gear from the trailer.. probably will get to it Friday. The truck seems to be braking OK though the ABS was acting up when we changed the master cylinder. Looks like we failed the water test due to low Ph so I have to get the conditioner serviced (its overdue anyhow) and have it retested before I can get the refinance to go through.. oh well.

Yesterday's madness.....

Let's see, the day started out with us waking up to the sound of thunder. There's nothing wise than packing up a wet tent, so we jumped out of bed and made a mad dash to get everything packed before it could get rained on. Then it didn't rain, this should have been an omen.... On the way home there was an accident on the PA turnpike. An 18 wheeler full of lumber lost control, hit the wall, and turned over spreading its load over all 4 lanes of highway. Then a car hit the rubble, jumped the center wall and hit another one head on. We sat for well over an hour as they med-evac'ed people out and cleaned up the mess. When we got to Philly, the master cylinder in the truck went and we lost our brakes. I was able to get the truck to a place off the highway without incident. I canned AAA and they could not locate a towing company that could tow the truck and trailer.. Who would figure a tow truck doesn't have a ball hitch??? I had to call PAsmokeater to come get the trailer and get it home along with my wife while I waited for the tow truck. I didn't get home with the truck till after 11:30 last night. We left at noon... It should only have taken around 7 hours to get home. Not a fun day. Today I get to change the master cylinder... Oh yay.

Pennsic War part 1

Yes, I am posting this from war! Hopefully I won't have to do this too often, but here I am. It has been raining off and on since we got here friday afternoon, a little soggy at the moment, but not too bad! Rumor has it there are over 9500 people here so far. This is going to be a big week I think. I'm going to have lots of pictures to post when I get back..... Later for now.

24 hours to war!

That's right.... 24 hours from now I'm off to War... Pennsic War that is.. And since it looks like i may need to work while there, when I do get online, I'll post with news of the war happennings as I can. Looks like its a Muddsic this year. Haven't actually seen any reports from war yet, but the forecast is definitely looking wet. Oh well, last one was 10 years ago, guess I can't complain too much, and this trip around I have canvas, not nylon, so we'll be staying dry. Hope to have loads of pictures when we get back, many digital for immediate posting...:)

On the work front, things are still a nightmare, but there's not too much that I can actually do about it today, so we just have to see how it all pans out next week I guess. ugh!

I really hate fleet bank!

They are making life a living hell for us at the office..... We had to stay late tonight to make sure everyghing was going to go through... argh!

FLEET BANK SUCKS!!!!

If you have money at fleet bank - do us all a favor and move it to another bank. They are a bunch of morons.. They care nothing about their customers, and even less about their customers clients... They deserve to go bankrupt and will never get any of my money!

I'm not done yet!

Still more changes to the site..... I'm getting there but not quite done yet....

New style sheets!

I spent a good part of the morning re-designing the style sheets so that the blog page is now the same look as the rest of the site... looks pretty good to me.

Well, I'm almost ready to go to Pennsic - got the new table top stained, made a collapsiblw set of shelves, Now I'm going to try the table out with the newimproved table legs... I added 1/8" steel bars to the top of the legs to keep the table top from wanting to bend at the hinge (due to leverage). They attach with 2 wingnuts, nice & simple. Looks like I may have to work while on vacation.. i just hope I can do all that I need to do remotely and not have to drive all the way back home and miss a few days of my vacation.. that would suck! Well, I'm off to the parents house to check out the improvements...

Oh, we're having a birthday get together for the friends tonight - I just went and picked up the cheesecake.. yum!
