Today was a big day for Katya.... we got a new big word.. pepperoni - pronounced as 2 words... pepper-oni. She came to me and said she had a wet diapie and later said she had to poopie and went upstairs and went all by herself. She is growing in leaps and bounds.
Well, Katya got a big girl bed yesterday. Rain spotted it on the curb, it looks brand new. We set it up for her and she actually slept in it last night, which is a good thing (I think).

Woah!

This was incredible.

I'm hoping Rain's migrane headaches go away soon... she is in major pain
Every day I am amazed at the progress that Katya is making. She made it to bedtime last night with a dry diaper again. She asked to go to the potty around 7pm and she went. I think she will be pretty well potty trained by Christmas. Last night she saw a dolphin picture in a book and said "Dolphin" very clearly. She is coming up with more new words all the time now and that is a good thing. I sent her registration paperwork to the Russian Embassy so we can get hat piece of paperwork out of the way, hopefully I will have the response by Friday. Next step is to get her a US passport, which will help with her ID in school, etc.

We had a pretty tame weekend. We stayed home most of the time and got some stuff done. Sunday I decided to try smoking some chicken, boy did that turn out good. I did about 8lbs of it and we shrink wrapped and froze most of it. Now we have quick dinners when we want them. Katya is doing real well with everything so far, and is starting to have more and more dry diapers (or at east not so wet ones). She is well on the way to potty training. Rain has been getting migraines all weekend so she hasn;t been feeling the best. Hopefully they will pass soon.

It has been a busy couple of days and I haven't posted, so here goes.....

Saturday Katya had a bit of a cold so we pretty much stayed home all day. She actually slept for a while on Rain's chest, so you know she wasn't feeling too good. She was real cranky and clingy all day. Sunday we went to the Lakewood Ren faire for a few hours. We didn't stay too long because we did not want Katya getting sick again. I got a chance to break the bow out again for the first time in over a year. That felt real good. It is nice to know that I have not lost my touch with all that down time. The basement is coming along nicely, we are still organizing the junk from the room upstairs. Soon I will start removing the old electric heaters and thermostats. Then we are going to repaint the new spare bedroom and then our bedroom. After that I think we will go through the other rooms one at a time a d repaint, etc. It is time to give he place a facelift on the inside.

Katya seems to be doing well at day care. She gets along with the other kids pretty well and behaves herself pretty good (so far). Lakewood Ren Faire is this weekend - we'll go for the day Saturday I'm sure and maybe Sunday if we feel like it and it isn't raining.

French Terrorist Alert

AP and UPI reported today that the French Government announced yesterday
that it has raised it's terror alert level from "run" to "hide." The
only two higher levels in France are "surrender" and "collaborate."
This may have been precipitated by the recent fire which destroyed one
of their White Flag factories, disabling their Military for the time
being.

It's been interesting at work lately. I have been learning to work with XML data to put information into excel, pdf, or whatever format we need. It has been a challenge to learn the language since it is not complex but has few functions. As a result I have needed to be very creative in my handling of the information. I made a few real big breakthroughs over the weekend. I'm having fun with it though.

Today we got a Little Tykes picnic table off the curb for Katya. Can't beat the price, we also got a work bench for her too. We had a blast yesterday at the Academy of Natural Science in Phila. Katya loved seeing all the animals they have there and the "big dig".

I went and moved the rest of the computers into the basement today. We also rearranged the basement so that we have much more room than we had before. We now have one really big rec room- almost 3/4 of the basement is open for us now. We each have our own space. Even Katya has her own desk with her computer. She has lots of room to play down here too. I am getting used to having the computers down here. We spent most of the day in the basement and never even noticed that it was over 80 outside.. time to turn the air on.

Wednesday, September 01, 2004

Well, I moved my computer to the rec room in the basement last night. I actually like having it down there. The lighting is much better and it isn't so cramped. We'll turn the computer room into a guest bedroom once we get all the computer stuff moved out of there. Katya loves having the big room to play in and she loved the rubber mats, so we will have to get more once Rain goes back to work in 2 weeks. I'm going to make a Katya sized computer desk for her little tykes chair. I'll cut the legs down to her height and then she will have her own work table. We have some computer software and accessories coming just for her, so she will be all set soon.
