Cool jeep video...

http://natecovington.com/ipw-web/gallery/albums/jeeppics/paragon.wmv

and my mazda is in this one...

did 20/20 screw up?

20/20 is airing a show "be my bay" or something like that. They are going to show 5 families competing to adopt a baby - sounds like a really horrible reality TV show, doesn't it? The way they described it is more like the next survivor than a documentatr. I know the open adoption system needs to be totally rethought - shouldn't even be alowed, but this will only sensationalize it, I dont think it will do any good at all, probably will have the opposite effect and hurt those of us that are adopting internationally. The last thing we need is the foreign governments thinking we are maing adoption into some kind of sport... They could definitely have presented it better, that is for sure. I think they are trying to support open adoption when they should be trying to put an end to it. Open adoption is a bad idea all around, letting families compete with each other to see who gets the baby.. that is wrong.. They should get a referral and that is the one they get. The birthmother should have zero rights once the adoption is finalized too, not this crap about her being able to visit, etc... That really irks me.

I think tonight's adventure will be Kabobs on the barbecue. We went to BJ's last night to stock up and got some meat to try this with - got some steaks too. I vacuum sealed some meat in marinade so it should be real good tonight..:) I'm definitely enjoying the grille. It sure beats cooking the same thing all the time, and I really enjoy cooking on it. I can see using it year round.

Steaks came out great last night. I definitely will be doing htat again. We picked up shishkebob skewers so we're gonna get some meat and veggies and try that next i think. That should be interesting.

Looks like we're gonna do steaks on the grille tonight.. Should be interesting, I've never done steaks like that before - now that we have the grill, I plan on barbecuing a whole lot more stuff. Well, it's been 2 weks since I started doing yoga and I notice that I am getting a little more flexible, and my muscles aren't sore now afterwards. That is a good thing...

We're looking into the insurance for the Jeep - it's looking like it will cost more than the other 2 vehicles even though it is going to be recreational only - that makes absolutely no sense at all. I need to get the VIN # before I can get an accurate quote. I really would love to get a jeep for play, then I can put all the toys on it and not worry too much about the day to day drivability of it.

New toys....

Well, yesterday I broke down and bought a gas grill. I've been wanting one for years and decided that this was the way to get us out of the house more and using the back yard. We cleaned the table off, put out the chairs & umbrella, etc. We went today and bought one of those outdoor fireplaces that can be used as a chacoal grill too. Now we can have a fire in the evening if we want to and sit out and enjoy the weather.

We're looking at maybe buying a play jeep, we'll see how that goes, the insurance is going to be the biggest cost that we have to worry about. Need to call them tomorrow and see what they say.

I discovered a new game last night - craps... I bought in on a $10 minmum table with $20, 2 hours later I walked away with $22. Not too bad when you think about it> This was the first time that I had ever played the game so I did pretty good. At one point I was up to around $100 but I ended up giving it all back eventually. I must say It was fun betting $40 or so on the roll and sometimes winning, sometimes losing.

Well, I rearranged the network. Now I have part of my desk back, and rom to plug in the new computers as I get them ready to run. I'm already working on the new downstairs jukebox computer.
I think today I'm going to rewire the home network. I'm gonna put the cablemodem and firewall in the basement along with the server so that I can free up some space upstairs and add another drop for a jukebox downstairs. The surround sound system has a hookup for a computer output soi that way I can run different music upstairs & downstairs. I'll also be able to move the small speakers to the bedroom so we can listen back there too. I'm going to have a very wired house before I get done with all this. Let's see, this makes 4 computers active right now, the second jukebox will make 5 and Katya's will make 6.. yeah, I'd say I am definitely in the 21st century.... lol

Blindfold Blog

This blog is worth reading, It's not very busy but I thought it said alot about the person who is writing it.

Blindfold Blog
I think we're going to hit the casinos tomorrow night. It's a chance to blow off some steam and get out of the house for a while. We've both been stressed because of the adoption and just need to get out and have som egood clean fun. The bar at the casino has free entertainment after 10PM so that should be fun too. Maybe we'll hit the boardwalk while we're out.

WOOHOO!!!!!

Our documents are headed to Russia tomorrow! That means our court date is coming real soon!

Tuesday, April 20, 2004

One day closer to Russia - Our paperwork should be on its way to the adoption agency. Then they will send it all to RUssia to get us a court date. I hope we can make it to Russia before the end of May. I had to replace ther rear brakes & rotors on the car Sunday - apparently the caliper hung up and only wore one pad down, and then ground into the rotor. I need to keep an eye on it in the future and see if it still does it.

Well, it looks like I fonally got most of the paint off of the toy box for Katya, now it is just scraping what is left off, some sanding, and repainting it. Not too bad. We finally got all the paperwork done that we needed to get our court date scheduled. YAY! now we just wait for our date to go and get our little girl.

I'm Still fighting with the doctors to get the damned paperwork completed that I need. How hard is it to read the lab results and fill out a form??? this is getting rediculous. If we lose this adoption as a result of the Dr office I'm gonna get really pissed! This should have been done weeks ago, now we're going on 3 weeks to accomplish this.

It's Easter!

Well today is Easter Sunday. We decided to do nothing most of the day and just played it nice & lazy. Yesterday we stripped the paint from the toybox. Now we need to remove the last remnants of paint and see if we want to stain or repaint the box for Kaya.

Friday, April 09, 2004

It's been a busy week....

Let's see.. Sunday I repainted Katya's crib. We had some paint left over from the room so her crib now matches... We're working on getting thigs finished up to bring her home. I'm installing child safety locks on the cabinets and such.... I talked to the office where I had the test done Friday - the DR has been out all week - it would have been nice if they would have told me this. I needed this paperwrk to be done ASAP.. GRR!!!

Tomorrow I'm helping Fred work on the deck at his in-laws place and then after that hopefully stripping the toy box and repainting it.

We had a minotr flood in the basement when i forgot to shut off the fish tank fill valve - oops! It's pretty much dried up now, but as a result I decided to start transferring stuff from the cardboard boxes to plastic bins, actually It makes better use of the available space. I picked up 8 more and will see how far that gets me. They're cheap enough - only $4 at Walmart...

What is with the cold? Did someone miss the first day of spring?

Sunday, April 04, 2004

Well yesterday we lifted Fred's XJ.. looks real nice now, 2" higher, lots more flex, well worth the money.

Got to try UNO attack yesterday - man was that a fun card game....

To Our Country's Religious Leaders:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from you, and try to share my knowledge with as many people as I can. For example, when someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

However, I do need some advice from you regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev.1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev.24:10-16)? Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
