We had a good memorial day weekend. We went camping at an SCA event (quest). The event went well, the weather held, and we had a nice relaxing weekend. I made a few improvements to the camp setup and have more ideas for changes in the future. The trailer worked out well for the trip, I just have to get some more of the weight to the back to balance the load better. the 2 part ridge pole worked well, I'm going to make a new one like it for the fly next.

We're about 3 weeks from our trip to Russia, I can't wait to go and get our little girl. Hopefully we willl have airline information tomorrow. I need to call Allwaya tomorrow either way.

Another crazy day at work, between configuring the new firewall and getting the new sofware online...

I had a meeting ont he phone with the adoption agency to go over travel info, we have most of what we need already put aside, just a few documents to look up. Should have airline info in a day or 2 and our passports are there and our visas applied for.

It's been a crazy week. We sent in our paperwork to get the visas for our trip, and are waiting on the pricing, etc. for our plane tickets. We're in the home stretch now, not much longer to wait till we're parents!!! Work has been crazy too, we're working on getting the new system s online, and on top of that, I'm trying to get things set to go camping this weekend.

Let's see, what has been going on? I got quite a bit accomplished in Texas for work while I was there. The flight back was pretty uneventful as well, unline the flight out there. When I got back I had to go to Fred's mother in laws funeral and spent most of the day lending moral support. We took Nancy out that night to get her mind off of things which I am sure was of help to her. Yesterday I helped dad work on the Ford for a bit, we think the coiol or te pickup in the distributor is failing, causing the ignition to cut out when driving it. We ordered a replacement.

Well, It's about 8am (7am cst) and i have been up for over an hour. I had trouble getting to sleep last night and then about 5:45am the phone rings once and nobody there, thena few minuter later it does it again. nice. so now that I am wide awake I have been online for about an hour or so. I am glad that AOhell offers free internet access. I'll cancel it once I get back home. I need to take this keyboard apart onthe laptop, the left shift key seems to have something stuck under it and won't work half the time. that is annoying.

agh! what a trip!

I'm on the way to Houston, TX as I write this, about 25 miles West of Charleston, WV according to the GPS - we're ate 36479 ft aand about 473 MPH. Gotta love the toys. It's about 6PM and we're about 2 hours from Houston. We were supposed to take off at 1PM - we left the ground at 4:30PM. Since there were yhunderstorms that had the takeoff coridoors closed down we had to wait till they could get an open route to allow us to take off. As a result we left the ground after we were supposed tro have landed and we have since missed our connection to San Antonio. Looks like we'll more than likely be spending the night in Houston. So much for a full day in San Antonio tomorrow. Oh well, could be worse. Denny tells me our connecting flight takes off in 20 minutes... ARGH! I'm sure it will be an adventure no matter what ends up happening.

10:18PM - we're in the air headed for San antonio. It's about time. We had a 1.5 hour wait for this flight, not too bad, at least they were able to get us to SA tonight instead of waiting till the morning. At least tomorrow won't be a total waste. I definitely can't wait to get me some sleep. I'm tired, it's been a long day for me. We got some food at the airport because there was no way that I was going to wait till like 10:30 to eat.

Found a few new things for the palm pilot today. I found a new sync program that replaces the notepad/address book/task list/contacts with outlook style screens and allows me to sync at work and at home and keep them in different folders on the palm and not sync across. I also found the program (List) that allows me to edit the WWCalc databases.

Had a bit of a crazy day. Fred called - he lost most of his brake fluid on the way to work. I ended up driving to PA and changing the brake line in the Pep Boys parking lot to get him going again.

Testing a new email to blog function.
It looks like the lawn mower that I was given works pretty good. I had to take the carburetor apart and clean it out then it ran real well. It made mowing so much easier having a self propelled mower. I'm gonna see about setting the tent up wed night to check it out for memorial day weekend. I'm gonna make hinged ridge poles too. Then I won't have to deal with a 14 foot long pole.

This is something that would be a welcome sight. If you've ever worn a kilt, or a medievel tunic you know how comfortable they can be. It would be nice to have the option, Since women can after all wear pants.....

Well, today after going in to work for a while I'm moving a motorcycle to a friend's house and getting some stuff he's looking ot offload. Should be interesting to see how it works out. Since camping season is approaching, I'm rigging the cap to fit on the trailer so I can get all the gear onto it like I would when I had the truck. I'm going to set the tent up this weekend.

I figured out that I can backup my cell phone using the infrared port on my laptop. Saved me from having to buy the serial cable I guess. Stil no word on the adoption. Hopefully in the next few weels we will hear something.

OK, so maybe the Yoga in the moerning doesn't work quite as wel as I would like. I'm not exactly a morning person, but at least this way I get a second shot before the day is out. I'm really liking the new computer room arrangement, it makes things much more open than they were before. Now I just have to work on getting some more lighting in there.

I decided to start doing my workout in the morning before work instead of after work. Maybe this way I'll actually remember (and feel like) to do it every day. It really does help to boost my flexibility and I'm sure it is doing more good in other was too.

Monday, May 03, 2004

Looks like we have a new social worker with the adoption agency, our previous one is no longer there. No word on a court date yet.
I need to try to get back in to the Yoga more.. the last 2 weekends I haven't done it at all, though I am still doing it after work, which I guess is better than not at all. Its been 3 weks now and I am definitely enjoying the workout that it gives me. I think maybe I need to do it first thing in the morning when I get up on the weekends, or maybe I should try to do it every morning first thing to start my day. Oh well, one way or the other it will have to work for me.

I decided it was time for a change, I went form a full beard to a Goatee and Rain is not real fond of it. I'm still uncertain, I think I'll keep it this way for a while and see how it works for me before I decide whether or not to change it.

We had an interesting day today. We met Karen in Phila. and went to Betsy Ross's house. Rain finally got to taste a real "philly cheesesteak" - not the bad imitations that most restaurants serve. we definitely need to do this again.
Yesterday I decided it was tiem to clean out the computer room. I emptied all the major stuff out of the room and moved the desks around. I also took my desk and cut it into 2 desks, to give me more flexibility in placing things. I think it makes for more room this way. Now to go through the junk and throw some unneeded stuff out.
