A lesson learned

Never leave a 100 watt flood lamp turned on against an empty glass fish
tank. Now I have a cracked side of a tank. It's a good thing that I
didn't intend to put water in it...

Catapults!

Today we went to an SCA event (Bellringers). They were having a
marshmallow catapult contest where you had to build a catapult to throw
marshmallows from the materials they had on hand (a stack of 2' 2x4's,
some wooden dowels, twine, and a wooden spoon). I got drafted by the
Baronness of Carillion to help one team of kids build theirs. I have to
say, ours came out great and we easily won the distance competition. We
shot toward a wall 20' away. The second place team made it 19 feet, but
on our third shot we hit the wall about 4' off the floor! Sadly, we lost
on accuracy due to an equipment malfunction (I think we would have won
otherwise). Let's hear it for the Mongolian Engineering Corps! :)

Babies...

It appears as if a few of the mollies I got last week were pregnant
(Mollies give live birth). We now have at least 3 baby mollies swimming
in the tank. :)

Did Hell freeze over?

It sure does feel like it. I just got up and it's 3 degrees out!

Umm... it's cold out...

Friday morning when I was dropping my daughter off at the bus stop, I
see a guy at the next stop down the street wearing shorts, sneakers, and
a hoodie sweat shirt. Now, you might not think this odd if it were not
for the fact that it was 27 degrees out! I was wearing jeans, a heavy
winter coat and gloves and my legs were cold. I can't imagine how cold
this guy must have been.

bye bye Christmas

Yesterday, we took the Christmas stuff down yesterday and got the corner
of the living room back again. I decided to stack the games in that
corner on shelves and we can actually find them now instead of having to
dig through the closet.

A new year

Well, another year has come and gone... We spent New Years Eve with a
few friends and had a good time. Hopefully the next year will be better
than the last. Christmas was good for us this year and we're both still
employed, so that is good too.
